Yukon wolf
The Yukon wolf (''Canis lupus pambasileus''), also known as the autocrat timber wolf〔Giraud, D. E. (1905), ''(A check list of mammals of the North American continent, the West Indies and the neighboring seas )'', Chicago, p. 374〕 or interior Alaskan wolf〔Mech, L. David (1981), ''The Wolf: The Ecology and Behaviour of an Endangered Species'', University of Minnesota Press, pp. 352-353, ISBN 0-8166-1026-6〕 is a possible subspecies of gray wolf native to the Alaska Interior and Yukon, save for the tundra region of the Arctic Coast.〔 It was first described as a distinct subspecies in 1905 by Daniel Elliot, who described it as being larger in skull and tooth proportions than ''C. l. occidentalis'', and of ranging from black to white or a mix of both in color.〔 , it is considered a valid subspecies by MSW3, though it is classed as a synonym of ''C. l. occidentalis'' by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. ==Physiology==
